Dale Barr, a fitness coach here at Dauntless (and pictured below), recently earned his ranking as a Top 200 Age Group Qualifier in the 2018 CrossFit Open. That’s Top 200 in the world. Incredible achievement. He earned this via commitment to a thoughtful, thorough, specific and dedicated process. Congratulations DB!
We earn the body we live in. We have profound influence with how we move, how we eat, how we rest – and the mental chatter we run over and over in our mind. Obviously, we don’t control everything. But just as DB earned his accomplishment with day-to-day dedication to a specific program, we earn our status the same way. That’s exactly how you got to where you are right now. Dedication to a routine; for better or worse.
We can be diligent at our career, in our friendships, as a parent. (What are you dedicated to?) There are no shortcuts to the things that are meaningful to us. When it comes to our health and fitness, we can’t overcome a bad diet with more exercise. We can’t sleep off a nagging injury. And we can’t cleanse our way to health and vitality. Thankfully, we need not be perfect (unless perhaps you’re aiming for a Top 200 in something). But consistency earns the outcome.
If you know what you want, take the time to craft a plan (remember – not everything in your life has to change to make progress) and trust the process – you just might be amazed at what you can achieve. In my experience, people are stronger, more resilient, and much more capable than they judge themselves to be.
Make up your mind. Do the work. Trust the process. It works.
Again – congratulations DB. Incredible and inspiring.
